DANIEL MC-CARTHY,
a witness called and sworn on behalf of the people, was examined in chief by Mr. Walker and testified as follows:
Q Were you at the Haymarket on the night of May 4th?
A Yes sir.
Q Were you there when the bomb was thrown?
A Yes sir.
Q Whereabouts were you located in the ranks?
A No. 6.
Q In whose Company?
A Lieut. Steele's.
Q Which row of men?
A The rear rank.
Q Did you have anything shining in your hand, either club or revolver, before the bomb exploded?
A No sir.
Q Who stood at your left?
A The man is not here---his name is Dumbroskway.
Q Did you see Dumbroskway?
A Yes sir.
Q Did you see anything shining in his hand either club or revolver, before the bomb was thrown?
A no, sir.
Q Who stood next to that officer to your left?
A To Dumbroskway---McNulty.
Q Where is he?
A He is in the Hospital.
Q He is one of the men wounded by the bomb?
A Yes.
