JOHN HANRAHAN,

a witness called and worn on behalf of the People, was examined in chief by Mr. Walker and testified as follows:

Q Where were you on the night of May 4th?

A At the Haymarket meeting.

Q Which rank?

A Second rank.

Q Whose Company?

A Steele's.

Q How far from the east sidewalk?

A The fifth, man.

Q Were you there when the bomb was thrown or exploded?

A Yes sir.

Q Before the bomb was exploded did you have anything shining in your hand, either club or revolver or anything else?

A No sir.

Q Who stood at your left.

A McCarthy.
