EDWARD J. HANLEY,

re-called by the people, was examined by Mr. Walker, and testified as follows:

Q Where were you on the night of May 4th?

A There at the Hay-market.

Q Which number?

A I was No. 4 from the east.

Q Which rank?

A Second rank.

Q In whose company?

A Lieut. Steele's.

Q On the east?

A On the east.

Q Did you have anything shining in your hand, either club or revolver or anything else, before the bomb was thrown?

A No sir.

Q Who stood at your left?

A A man named John Hanrahan.

Q Is he here?

A Yes sir.
