CHRISTOPHER W. GAYNOR,

a witness called and sworn on behalf of the people, was examined in chief by Mr. Walker, and testified as follows:

Q What is your full name?

A Christopher William Gaunor.

Q Where were you on the night of May 4th?

A I was in the first company.

Q Which rank?

A Second rank, second man.

Q From the east?

A Yes sir.

Q Lieut. Steele's Company?

A Lieut. Steele's Company.

Q Were you there when the bomb went off?

A I was.

Q Before the bomb went off did you have anything shining in your hand, either club, revolver or anything else?

A No sir.

Q Was there anything in your hand?

A No sir.

Q Who stood at your left?

A Officer Dewald.
