PATRICK WALSH,

a witness called and sworn on behalf of the People, was examined in chief by Mr. Walker, and testified as follows:

Q Where were you on the night of May 4th?

A No. 9 in the first line, Lieut. Steele's Company.

Q You mean the ninth from the east?

A Nine from the east

Q Were you there when the bomb was thrown?

A Yes sir.

Q Before the bomb was thrown at any time there, did you have anything shining in your hand, club or revolver or anything else?

A No sir, empty handed.

Q I will ask you who stood at your left?

A I disremember the officer that stood at my left.

Q Did you see any in anybody else's hand there near you?

A No sir.

Q Did Thiel have any in his hand.?

A No sir.
