MRS. B. P. LEE,

a witness called and sworn on behalf of the defendants, was examined in chief by MR. Salomon, and testified as follows:

Q What is your name?

A B. P. Lee.

Q Where do you reside?

A 295 West Randolph street.

Q How long have you lived there?

A Lived there since April 1st.

Q How long have you lived in the city of Chicago?

A Five years the 10th day of September.

Q You live there with your family?

A Yes sir.

Q Do you know a man by the name of Harry Gilmer?

A Yes sir.

Q How long have you known him?

A I have known him since sometime last summer.

Q Do you know his general reputation for truth and veracity amongst the people where he resided?

A I have always heard that it was bad.

Q You know it?

A I don't know it. I have heard it was bad.

Q You have always heard it was bad?

A Yes sir.

Q Very bad?

A I have heard people say that they would not believe him under oath.

CROSS EXAMINATION

Q Was that at 295 West Randolph street?

A No sir.

A Yes sir, I heard Mr. Moses say so.

Q At 301?

A Yes sir.

Q That is Mr. Moses who was on the witness stand?

A Yes sir.

Q You spoke to Moses and Moses spoke to you about Gilmer?

A Yes sir.

Q When was that?

A It has been several times he spoke of it.

Q Since Mr. Gilmer testified on the witness stand in this case?

A I don't think it was.

Q Did you know Mr. Serene the lawyer?

A No sir.

Q You heard Mr. Mitchell, this last witness?

A I did not hear him say anything.

Q I understood you to say Mr. Moses and Mr. Mitchell?

A No sir---I have Moses.

Q That was 301 West Randolph street?

A Yes.

Q Anybody else?

A No sir.
