JOHN B. GREINER,
being examined on the part of the State by Mr. Grinnell, deposed and stated as follows:
Q What is your name?
A John B. Greiner.
Q What department of the freight office of the North-Western are you working in? Whereabouts is your office?
A The office that I am in is Room 7.
Q Down at this building here?
A Yes sir, on Kinzie street.
Q What is your department -what do you do? What is your peculiar line of business?
A Well, my duties are rather of a miscellaneous nature. I investigate claims and vouchers and estimates.
Q Who is your superior in that?
A The chief clerk is supposed--
Q What is the name?
A A. D. Brigham.
Q How long have you been in that office?
A I have been there for six years-- not in this same position. I have had several positions, probably four or five.
Q How long have you been employed there in that company?
A Well, I should think I entered their service March 25 or 27, 1880.
