THE ALARM,
April 3rd, 1886.
AMERICAN GROUP, & co
Mr. Parsons thought the organization of the vast body of unskilled and unorganized laboring men and women a necessity, in order that they might formulate their demands and make an effective defense of their rights. He thought the attempts to inaugurate the eight-hour system would break down the capitalistic system and bring about such disorder and hardship that the Social Revolution would become a necessity. As all roads in ancient times lead to Rome, so now all labor movements of whatever character inevitably lead to Socialism.
The chairman asked those present if they desired to organize. The invitation was responded to by thirty men signing their name and organizing the "unskilled laborers eight-hour league," and arranged for a mass-meeting at the same place next Sunday evening at 7.30 oclock.
