[Swett, Leonard, portrait photograph]. Leonard Swett served as counsel for the Haymarket Anarchists when they appealed the verdicts against them in the Haymarket Anarchists Trial. Thus, Swett served as advocate for the plaintiffs in the case of August Spies et al. vs. Illinois, when the case was appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court.
