Red banner with gold fringe. Attached white beads spell out: Socialistische - / Arbeiter Partei. / Sektion Chicago. Crossed branches with leaves, also in white beads, below the lettering. Banner carried in parade on May 1, 1892 and taken by Chicago Police from socialists at the corner of Clark and Madison streets.
Donated to the Chicago Historical Society by Mayor Carter H. Harrison, II (CHS 1905.15).
